“Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”
Sometimes wise actions are starring at us right in the face, but we are not able to see them. The exhortation here is very simple and eminently reasonable. Do good to whom it is due, especially if it is in your power to do so. If you are leader of any sort, these words should cause you to pause and reflect. In truth, you do not have to be a leader. If you are in community, these words are applicable.
Whom can you thank for a job well done? To whom can you show extra kindness for laboring so diligently? Whom can you acknowledge and encourage (especially if these people are easily neglected)? A special dinner? A phone call? An email? A special night out?
If you honor people, then you are walking in the path of wisdom and what you can expect is great blessing. Why? We are all created for community and all people need encouragement. Let’s take a step of wisdom in this area.
